Beliefs
Children
We believe that children have rights. A right to be loved, cared for, honoured, treasured, guided, supported, encouraged, empowered, nurtured, taught of good things and how to be confident, courageous, competent, resilient and compassionate.
Children love to play so let them play.
Children love to learn so let them learn.
Children love to laugh so let them have joy.
Teaching
Teaching is sharing yourself with another in a way that engages and brings something new to them.
Teaching can empower others.
Teaching is varied in how we engage with others.
Teaching can be fun, but it can also be challenging.
Teaching can give others wisdom and opportunity.
But teaching must be good and it must be relevant and it must be effective.
Family
Family consists of those around us who we live with each day. Family can be our blood relatives or not. Family can be supportive but sometimes not. Our family is often all that we know as a young child and is therefore significant to who we are, where we belong to and what we become.
Family is everything to a child and to us. Family is our network and our eyes into the world in which we live and how we see the outside world.
Community
The community surrounds the family with many things. Sometimes this is hope. Sometimes this is tragedy. Sometimes there is a sense of calm, comfort and compassion. Sometimes the child's community is fearful, rebellious and angry.
Whatever the child's community, it affects them now and forever, whether they stay in the same community or not.
Teachers, family, government, media, and civilisation create the community for the child.
Community is vital to a child's hope and dreams and opportunity.
